I would like some of your thoughts please. I have a friend who lives in another State. We will be having a weeks holiday together next month. She is my age but very overweight. Her health is starting to suffer, she can't walk very far, puffs etc. I am very fond of her and don't know if I should tell her that I am worried for her and see if I can get her to confront her weight. Or just leave it up to her to talk, if she wants. She has only ever said a few words in the past about being overweight and maybe I didn't encourage her enough then. Any ideas? Don't want to loose her as a friend or embarrass her. Thanks.

hmm. That is a tricky one.

If you are good friends maybe you can hint at how you have lost your unwanted kilos and tell her about CS, & see if she would be interested in doing it? If you do it in a positive way ?

Weightloss is one of those things , like smoking, you can't force someone to lose weight, they will do it when /if they are ready. If it is effecting her health tho I would think that her Dr would be trying to support her with some weightloss strategies. It's really hard if you don't live close by for support.

I have a friend and we are really close, we joined the gym together and she is sick of being overweight like I was. But she wasn't quite ready to lose it . She doesn't go with me often, but in seeing the changes I have made it motivates her to want to lose it! she has given up smoking so she is one step closer &  I know soon she will be ready to lose it & I will be there every step of the way. :)

All you can do is support her and tell her what has worked for you & hope she will make the right decision. Smile

Thanks very much for that info. I think you are right. I will tell her about ME. What has worked, what hasn't etc and maybe she will open up a bit more. I know it is not good to harp on about your own story, but I will be careful not to be a 'diet bore'. After all, we are on holiday to have fun and relax- cant wait!!

Goodluck! it's hard seeing a friend in need of some help. I know for so long I wanted to lose weight but thought it was all too hard & it is really hard but once you start to see results you want to keep going!! But as soon as it started potentially effecting my health it scared me and gave me the push I was needing.

I'm in a real plateau at the moment shakes aren't giving me the results that I once was getting so am trying different things, like swapping for bfast cereal and still having one for lunch and having trying to change my exercise routine to give my body that boost that it needs. so hopefully I can be seeing the results that I want and finally get to my goal!

I would really like to lose 5kgs in the next 5 weeks, so I am going to give it my all, starting monday really up my exercise and see what I can do!

frienldyface I think Jezz hit the nail on the head when she said your dear friend needs to be ready to lose the weight. I don;t think you will need to say anything - she will see you and will see what you do over the time you are together and will put two and two together all by herself. It has to be her decision, but you can definitely be her role model!

She is lucky to have a friend like you. Enjoy your time together!

Cheers
